Summer Youth Employment Program

Need a Summer Job?

The Summer Youth Employment Program (SYEP) is part of the One Summer Chicago initiative spearheaded by former Mayor Rahm Emanuel. The program targets Chicago youth between the ages of 16-24. It is a 6-week program that runs from the first week of July through the second week of August.

In SYEP, youth are provided with part-time subsidized employment, financial literacy workshops, supportive services, and job readiness assistance. During the summers of 2018 and 2019 alone, close to 100 youth received subsidized employment through Asian Human Services. Positions offered have included childcare assistant, customer service associate, and summer camp counselor.

Employer partners for this program include Dunkin’ Donuts, Potbelly Sandwiches Co., Little People Daycare Center and Kindergarten, the Haitian American Museum of Chicago, and Community First Medical Center. Asian Human Services has also provided onsite subsidized employment at its LEAF and Workforce Development offices.
