The Youth Career Pathways (YCP) program allows young people to launch a career in health sciences by becoming credentialed as a Certified Nurse Assistant and Certified Phlebotomy Technician.
Tuition and fees are fully funded as participants study theory and complete clinicals at an IBHE-approved training program over the course of 4-5 months. Throughout the program, clients are offered case management, mentorship, tutoring, job readiness assistance, and employment counseling as well as transportation and other supportive services.
Once participants pass state exams to become credentialed, they are placed in an 8-week paid work experience at a healthcare facility. This gives participants valuable experience that can fast-track to permanent employment. Case managers offer resume consultations, interview guidance, and job leads to set participants up for success before exit.
YCP prioritizes youth who face economic and other challenges, including those who live in under-resourced neighborhoods in Cook County. The program welcomes parents, houseless youth, and others who simply need assistance pursuing their careers as CNAs or Phlebotomists. Participants must be 18-24 at the point of enrollment, have a high school diploma or equivalent, and not be enrolled in any academic program.
