The Resilience Fund

The Resilience Fund is our community’s safety net, built to help us respond quickly and compassionately to the growing challenges immigrant and refugee families face every day.

Across Chicago, families are being stretched beyond their limits. With SNAP benefits reduced by half and long delays in accessing public assistance, even the basics—food, rent, warmth—are slipping out of reach. At the same time, heightened ICE activity and shifting political pressures have created an atmosphere of fear and uncertainty that touches nearly every part of daily life.

Resilience doesn’t look the same for everyone. For some, it’s holding onto housing or finding consistent work; for others, it’s ensuring that there’s food on the table or enough gas in their car to get their kids to school or the doctor. Just as we always have, Trellus meets people where they are, supporting them at their greatest point of need.

Through the Resilience Fund, we can provide immediate, practical help—food and gas gift cards, rental or utility assistance, warm clothing, and other essentials—so that families can find stability and strength in uncertain times.

Our Goal

The Growth of Our Resilience Fund$10,000 of $15,000
$10,000 of $15,000

Here’s what your support can do:

  • In Illinois the maximum monthly SNAP benefit for a household of 2 is about $550.
  • Some households in Illinois receive as little as $80/month from SNAP.
  • Emergency assistance programs in Chicago have helped thousands of households with rent, utilities or transportation in crisis.

So when you give, say, $250, you’re putting real relief in motion: you’re helping a family afford groceries when federal benefits aren’t enough; you’re helping fill the gap so they don’t choose between paying the heat bill or buying fresh food; you’re saying to them: you are valued, you are not alone, your community stands with you.
